Texture Lolita: The Forgotten Sub Style ∣ April Fools

The following post is satire and nothing written below should be taken as fact

If you were to ask modern lolitas if they have heard of a style called texture lolita, the answer would almost be unanimously "no". However, among the generation of ex lolitas from an era gone by, texture lolita is was a popular style for a short time. In this blog post we'll take a look at the style~

Texture lolita focuses on interesting texture mixing in a coord above all else, but also playing with shape, line, and occasionally colour. Naturally, due to the era it was popular it has a lot of crossover with oldschool, as well as gothic and mori. However it is possible to put together a texture lolita coord in sweet or classic. Monochromatic coords were most popular, though you can also find examples of texture loli coords that use multiple colours.

Textile textures commonly worn in the style include gobelin, tapestry, embroidery, fishnet, mesh, pleather, lace, velvet (particularly crushed), velour, faux fur, knit and gauze. Common texture features include ruffles, pintucks, ladder lace, shirring, tiers, gathering, lettuce hems, embroidery and fraying. A tekurori coord should include at least 3 of the textures listed above including multiple types of lace. Popular brands to wear in tekurori are H.Naoto, Alice Auaa, Marble, Sheglit, Visible, and Metamorphose Temps de fille.

^A couple of examples of my own texture lolita coords^

Hair is another way girls would add texture to their coord, with ringlets, curls, crimping their hair, choppy haircuts, or adding feathers and hair pieces to their hair.
Texture lolita is also known as Tekurori, and on social media can be found under the tags #てクロリ #texturelolita #textureloli #tekuloli and #tekurori

April Fools!
That's right, texture lolita isn't real and definitely wasn't around in the oldschool days, but it's still a cool concept and maybe this will still encourage you to play with texture more in your own coords~
