Early in December I had plans with my mum to see the Lindisfarne Gospels exhibit at a local art gallery before it ended.
I felt like dressing up, so I decided to put together a coord with my Moitie JSK. I thought I would pair it with these Jane Marple socks for a different look to my other coords with this JSK (plus they sort of fit the medieval vibe), and my new gobelin bag went quite well with those. I also decided to go for a black blouse with it, since I tend to coord it with a white blouse; the Baby blouse is a little sweet for this coord but I only own two long sleeved black blouses and the other one is very faded. Maybe it's a sign I need more black blouses 👀.

I really wanted to wear my hime wig again, but as I've discovered it tangles instantly, so I had to completely detangle it before wearing it and guess what? As soon as I put it on it started tangling again ;; If anyone knows how to stop this happening I'm all ears! Maybe I should cut it shorter so it's a little more manageable?
As well as the Lindisfarne gospels there were several other gospels from the same time period and some pieces of stone crosses. The cover of the Lindisfarne Gospel had a gorgeous cover that was gold and bejewelled.
After the exhibition, we got food at Wagamama and our server knew what lolita was! I got the gyoza udon which was great but I do wish it had more veggies in it beyond just bok choy. I like bok choy I just wanted mooore. I love udon though, the texture is just so satisfying!
For the legwear I was originally going to wear my new white RRM socks, but I decided that since all the accessories were white I should add another pop of colour and opted for the cherry socks instead.
I ended up being a little overdressed since my friends were in more casual coords, but I enjoyed wearing a coord that was a bit different to my usual look. The cats at the cafe were super cute, although some were asleep and the rest weren't so interested in playing much. It didn't help that there was a child trying way too hard to get them to play. But it was a fun and relaxed meet which I really enjoyed. Below are some photos of the kitties~

I also filmed some of it on my camcorder:
A bit later in December I had plans to meet up with my friend Minty. I thought it would be cute to wear a christmassy coord and already had my red Cornet OP with my white RRM bonnet and cosy winter cloak in mind. It's not the most christmas themed coord ever but it is red and white with a fur edged cloak soooo-.

This photo was super dark so I edited it lighter but thats why it looks different to the other two ;A; |
We went to a cafe to get some lunch and like an idiot I ended up getting curry on my dress, and of course the majority of it landed on the lace. It was especially annoying since I put a napkin on my lap to prevent just that from happening. When I got home I worked extra hard to get rid of the stain and I mostly did, but now that section of lace is a brighter white than the rest. I can't bloody win lol. But if you know how to get the stark white lace back to the offwhite/ivory shade that the rest of it is please do let me know!
Then for Christmas I stayed at my mums. Since it would be a slightly more "formal" Christmas day than the last few I wanted to wear a nice festive coord for it. I needed something that would be nice, but also comfy enough to relax in and eat too much in, and also not too annoying to walk (quite far) home in. The obvious choice was my Jane Marple OP since it's super comfy, low poof and is also tartan, making it very very Christmassy. I decided to go for a bit of an 80s vibe by pairing it with my new Jane Marple hat which also covered my ~not so rori~ haircut.

I got some really great Christmas presents this year, which you can see below. My dad got me some vintage FRUiTS magazines, a White Ring CD, Inland Empire on DVD, the American Duchess book on 18th century beauty which I'm really looking forward to reading, and an antique Victorian hair brooch! I've wanted a real hair brooch for so long, I can't believe I own one now!
From my mum I got a gorgeous pair of American Duchess shoes I'd been wanting to help build my Edwardian wardrobe (for historical costuming) and some sewing sessions with a local seamstress who specialises in historical costuming as well. I also got a Cocteau Twins CD from my uncle, not pictured because it arrived a few days after Christmas.
On Christmas morning I also did the "turning my mum into me" Tiktok trend and put my mum in a lolita coord. For some reason I can't find the raw video clips to take a screenshot of so here's the tiktok video if you wanna see~
You could try removing the stain with baking soda and mild soap. love your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you! ^u^ I actually did manage to remove the stain that day (mostly), the problem now is that that part of the lace is a bright white while the rest is offwhite.
DeleteFor dying the white lace part, I came up with two solutions:
ReplyDelete- Dye it with black tea. It's washable with cold wash I think, otherwise it will fade. Also, the stain is more on the brown/reddish side than yellowish, so this is to keep in mind.
- Dye it with a yellow/brownish clothing dye. I think this one can be pretty risky since you only want a more faded look than the actual color. In my country they sell clothing coloring in drug stores for quite low price, and they will be permanent if you wash them around 30°C. The shorter time you leave the color in, the more faded the outcome will be. Maybe there are some special colors out there for giving lace that yellowed white color? never seen it though. good look! <3
