Paris, Picnics & More, May-August Coords (Huge Post!)

I've been pretty busy over summer so this blog is absolutely full of coords!

I wore this coord in May on a very hot day. The jumperskirt is from around 1993-95~

Also in May I hosted a picnic meet for my birthday. The weather was lovely and I wanted to wear something summery and fit for a picnic, so I put together a 90s-ish coord with a fruit theme, with a Jane Marple OP I picked up recently.

Backpack - La Luice
Bag - Primark
Accessories - MILK, vintage, offbrand, Artbox

It was a potluck picnic, so everyone brought food to share. I attempted to bake a cake for myself, something I've done successfully plenty of times in my life, but the baking gods were not on my side this time and it failed at every turn! I was able to bring strawberries and cream though, and someone was able to bring a last minute cake from tesco so it worked out okay.

Also we saw some baby geese

During the summer, my dad and I took a trip to Paris. It was very exciting as this was my first time going to Paris. This was my coord for the day of travelling, I wanted something wearable but also cute enough to take some nice photos in, while also considering items I could wear in other outfits while there.

It was my first time going abroad in years which was exciting! I thought it would be fun to make all my travel stuff Sanrio- my suitcases, a passport cover, even travel toiletry bottles, since I needed to buy that stuff anyway.

Upon arriving to the hotel, I discovered my dad had booked a really pretty one! The decor of the room was gorgeous and the view was great too. Of course I had to get some photos with the wallpaper and bedding. The lobby was cute too, so I got some coord photos before we headed out to look around a bit and get some dinner.

While in Paris I met up with the Paris comm! I'd met some of them last year at The Queen is Dead, so got in touch to let them know I'd be in Paris. Unfortunately Clemy was also abroad so wasn't able to meet up, but she started organising a meet for me, I think Mila helped orgnise too. Clemy also ended up lending a lot of the comm her oldschool pieces so it was basically an oldschool meet lol.

We met at an Asian fusion tapas place for food as they had a great selection of vegetarian and vegan food. The ceiling was mirrored so we naturally had to take cute photos, turns out it's really hard to get a nice angle and look at the reflection at the same time lol. The group was compiled of some people I knew from TQID/the oldschool discord, some I'd followed for years, and a few I was meeting for the first time. Everyone was so lovely! I was a little starstruck meeting Marie as she has been a favourite lolita of mine for years!

Since Lulu was at the meet, I packed my apple bag (named Paul) that she made as I thought that would be cute. She also had one of her bags on so of course we got lots of photos together. Since it was so hot and muggy, I planned a skirt and blouse coord and picked this MILK skirt as it would look cute with the bag. It's also a rare sighting of my actual legs as it was too hot to wear skin colour tights.

After lunch and taking our coord photos, we headed to Angelic Pretty as I'd requested we go. I'm sure for everyone else it was a regular day but it was my first time in an Angelic Pretty store so I found it very exciting! The last time I was in any brand store was when I went to the BTSSB store in New York back in 2016. Of course I had to get a photo in front of the shop~!

So many bags

The inside of Angelic Pretty is so cute! Obviously I've seen photos, but it's different getting to go there in person. They have so many vintage Rushtons as decor I'm jealous.

Although AP's pieces are not my style in lolita, I planned to buy lots of novelty goods and had even looked at the AP Paris website to see what they'd have on offer.  The thing I wanted to get most was a mug; the mug they had at the time was Happy Cake which I love the print of as I think those vintage iced cakes are so cute, so that was perfect. I also got the Happy Cake badges, Decoration Strawberry makeup bag, a limited edition folder, a Happy Cake ring, and a pair of black and white ankle socks. Although now I have the taste for brand mugs and I must have more!

I love this shot I got when we got split up at the crossing

Next there was an antique doll shop I wanted to go to, however just my luck they were out of town that week for a doll convention, so instead we made our way to Vivienne Westwood. It was so cool to go inside, the only other VW shop I've been in was the one that used to be open in my city which was tiny and far less cool by comparison. The decor was great, I love the orb light!

After some time browsing in the lovely air conditioned Vivienne Westwood, me decided to get some bubble tea and headed to a nearby garden (I think we were next to the Louvre). There were some lovely rose bushes, so we all ended up chatting, drinking bubble tea and getting some more photos.

We only remembered to get a shoe circle once some people left :<

By now it was teatime and we were all getting exhausted so one by one everyone left, and the last few of us toom the metro together to where we needed to go. I had such a wonderful day and such a lovely time meeting and hanging out with everyone, and I hope I can visit Paris again!

I thought this shop window was so cute, fitting Pokemon into the art nouveau design~

My last coord while in Paris was just to sign out of the hotel and travel to Versailles for Fetes Galantes (I'll be posting a blog about that soon!). Since I wouldn't be doing anything special in this coord I took the opportunity to get my coord photos inside the hotel room one last time, which wallpaper and bedspreads are so pretty!

Once back home I had plans to attend a friend's birthday. The theme was My Little Pony and it was going to be a picnic. I don't have much MLP stuff other than a vintage 80s badge, so I just tried to put together a cute FRUiTS-y coord that would fit the vibe, and added the badge to the back of my bag. Annoyingly I didn't get a photo of the back of the bag though lol.

In July, Lucy came to visit. We had plans to meet up to get some food and catch up, so I put together a cute coord. I had plans to dye my hair soon, so I wanted to do something with it while it was still red, and I realised I hadn't actually worn this JSK with my red hair so thought that would be perfect. Of course I had to coord it with the strawberry socks, and I thought the bag would add a nice proto-y touch.

That month I organised a fairly casual last minute meet with my comm to go to a local market. I wanted to wear my Bouquet print skirt again and style it differently than the last time. I thought it would be really cute to pair it with browns and florals, and then I wore my Cornet blouse as it has a decorative hem which would cover the shirred waist.

In July it was Nomi's birthday, and once again we were back at Karaoke (I swear we all had karaoke birthdays this year lol)! They requested we all wear J-fashion or dress cute. Earlier in the day we also had Sunday Dinner Club- basically once a month some of us go to different places that do vegan sunday dinner- so I wanted something that would be comfy and wearable.

I decided to wear my Meta Princess sleeve OP for the third time this year, because it really is so comfy and wearable! And I wore it without a petti. I like that it looks good without a petticoat due to the cut, I think it adds to the wearability. Since the only raschel socks I have are Meta's knee socks, and I learnt last time they look a little frumpy with the OP, I went with my new Angelic Pretty ankle socks. To tie the lace in more, since raschel and broderie anglais are so different, I paired those with my Chattering headdress.

In August I had a ticket to York Georgian Ball (I'll be writing a blog soon!) and so would be staying with Ria that weekend. I decided to put together a proto/lolita adjacent coord to travel over because why not~

The day after the ball we both dressed up in lolita and went into the city centre. As usual we went to the antique mall and got coord photos by the cathedral. I just packed a simple but cute coord. I thought it would be fun to wear a floral headdress with a mostly black and white coord to change things up a bit.

We also went to the garden of the Treasurer's House, which is a National Trust site but I guess you only need to pay to go inside the house and not for the garden. It was a gorgeous sunny day which made for taking some extra nice photos.. well other than having to stare into the sun and heavy shadows for the photos in front of the door. P.s. there was a very nice cat in the garden

Later in the month Helena organised a beach meet up. While the beach isn't necessarily the ideal place for a full proper lolita coord, it's still cute for lolita-esque swimwear, outfits and j-fashion. I was excited to finally get to wear my Jane Marple bikini set, which had a cute sailor collar and swim skirt.
I'd had this outfit in mind for a beach meet for ages, my JM jumperskirt and a pair of matching shorts I'd bought (you can barely see them in the coord tbf). I decided to forgo brand socks, since I didn't fancy getting them covered in sand. On the day I decided to add a cherry theme with the bag and jewellery too.

It was only a small meet up but we had a nice chill day. Helena brought the barbecue so we had (vegan) hotdogs and I made a salad. And we all went for a paddle and a look around the rock pools.

Then today, on the last weekend of August, we had a Cafe Club meet up. I had planned a coord around my Innocent World Rococo Rose JSK, however when it came time to get ready I realised I couldn't find the sleeves for the blouse I wanted to wear despite literally having them the other day. I think I put them somewhere "safe" that wasn't very safe lol. So, I had to change my coord last minute

I kept the socks, shoes and petti I'd planned originally and went for an OP for ease. I went for a red headdress as I haven't worn one with this dress yet, and then chose this bag for the same reason (and to tie in the black). I'm growing my fringe out atm so I can get it cut back in nicer and neater, so I've just been leaving it curly- I hope it looks okay~

The meet was nice and very casual, we just went to a new cafe and then went around town a bit~
